I love Babushka Dolls. The vibrance of the colour here is just fabulous. Beautiful photography Monika.
I am endlessly fascinated by these. What is it about them? I loved taking this.
What a colorful creation. I can see why you are fascinated.

Are they nesting dolls? I've never heard them referred to as babushka dolls, although it's certainly logical. My aunt let me play with one when I was little, I never tired of opening and taking out each doll. When my folks sailed on a Russian ship once they brought one home for me. The tiniest doll is not much larger than a grain of rice.
My Russian mother has the same dolls. Babushka means "scarf". The older peasant women who wear them are also called "Babushkas".
