An Invitation from Silky

Silky, the Elf who lives in the Faraway Tree asked me to give you this invitation.

Dear Guests of Riversleigh.
Everyone at Riversleigh is invited to come to afternoon tea with Moonface and I at 4:00 p.m. You will recognise my place as you climb the tree. It is the one with the lantern and flower pot near the front door.

The Land of Dreams is arriving at the top of the tree today and Moonface and I thought you just might want to join us for a short visit.

Looking forward to seeing you all and to hearing what you think of our tree.

love Silky

There will be a crowd of us so I think I will take something to share for afternoon tea. Perhaps I will make some Salmon and cucumber sandwiches.

Dear Silky,
Thank you for the lovely invitation to tea. I am not sure I shall be able to attend. You see the book about your magical Enchanted Wood and Faraway Tree arrived today so I may be cuddled up with one or many cats on my bed reading all day. If I decide to take a break I shall indeed think about wandering over for tea. And if I do perhaps I shall bring some apricot scones.

Silky does tea regularly and times vary according to where you are. Slip in and see her whenever it suits Rhonda. They will be there and remember - there is a land approaching. The Land of Dreams is due to arrive at the top of the tree any time soon. We will all be greeted by the old woman with poppies. You will know her when you see her.

Dear Silky,

I don't think we've actually met yet, but thank you for the invitation--I'd love to come to tea. The only problem I have--I hope this doesn't offend you--is that I've just washed my hair and several baby elves have got themselves tangled in it. My rooms are quite infested with them and they've been behaving very badly.
Perhaps they're not elves at all, but the pesky pixies from Harry Potter. Either way, the more I try to comb them out the tighter they hold on and the nastier they become. Their language is quite disturbing. Do you know anyone or anything that can help. I'd hate to miss the land of dreams and obviously, sleep is going to be out of the question.

Oh, Silky, I'm honored by your invitation and will be there if I can find my way. It's a long way from Arizona, USA to The Faraway Tree and with my sense of direction, I'm easily lost, especially if I have to cross the water in a boast that has sprung a leak. I'll be sure though to take along a bucket and sponge so I don't end up having lunch with Otis Octopus instead of tea with you.

Vi

Believer, how did you manage to get all those elves in your hair? Maybe my hair is too frizzy for them as I have oft times seen them off to the side giggling and pointing as I wash my tresses but managing to entangle themselves in it. Perhaps it is my new conditioner, Lavande Sans Elves, that does the trick... I shall have to send you a bottle.

rather... managing NOT to entangle themselves...

pity Blogger doesn't let you edit your comments.

Ah well Lois! If it is only a few of us who arrive for afternoon tea there will simply be more for us to enjoy. I cannot wait to taste the Pop Biscuits and Google Buns. Now is this where Google got it's name? Never thought of that.

Google buns. Genius! Heather that would be right!

Hi Rhonda,

The conditioner you recommended did the trick--the elves are now out of my hair. Or it was sticking my head back under the faucet--I heard a lot of spluttering and saw one clinging to the drain as he tried not to be swept away. Guess that taught the little buggers. (heheheh)

Your Invitation to afternoon tea sounds just great especially on a saturday. I believe it is Australia's holiday week-end.Pehaps
some have told you of my love of tea and sweet things such as shortbread.I also really like hot sunny days, good company and radishies,oh my poor neglected radish patch.I will have to get back to them and give nature a hand.I bet the ionion patch is thriving thanks to good friends and
dedicated greative gardeners.
