New Bugs

I've been painting this this weekend. I finished doing chores. Did my best to keep away from the computer. I can't resist uploading this. I'm so happy to have finally finished these. Happily, painting doesn't hurt my shoulders as typing this does. Bursitis is not something I welcome in my life. Its disruptive and painful.

This is Mantie. Its one of those really cheap balsa wood puzzles I bought from Christmas bazaar last December. I wish I'd bought more. They're addictive to put together and fun to paint.

This is Antsie.

This is Billy Bee.

This is the Butterfly.

This is Mookie.

Hi Winnie Rose,
I was wondering how you made all these great bugs! I see now that you used wood. Guess a heavy weight paper could also be used. Very inventive.
Thanks for sharing your work.

How I made them? Oooh. Thanks SylviaK for thinking I made them. I only painted them. They're these balsa wood puzzles that are sold cheap at bazaars (tiange in FIlipino language). I put them together and painted them. Some of these bugs are better looking than the others (Antsie & Butterfly) because I was able to paint the legs and the body before I glued them together.

I think you can use foam board to make these but they'd probably be easier to cut if you use a vertical saw. Wouldn't that be fun to do too! Its a pity I've thrown out the instructions that comes with the template. I could've scanned and post it here.
Then you can blow it up and make your own.

I'm on the look out for more of these things though. I'll be sure to save the templates next time.

These balsa wood puzzles are made in Taiwan. They sell them at 3 for a hundred pesos or about $1.5 in US dollars.
