She was Gone--

Some days, no matter what you do, you just can’t win.

She Was Gone—

She was gone when I awoke,
had left without a word.
She had been with me so long
that I thought she’d stay forever.

I wandered aimlessly about,
not knowing what to do.
Without her, I was lost,
a body bereft of soul.

I made some coffee,
ate a donut, and then another,
and a slice of chocolate cake
with ice cream.

I walked down to the lake,
skipped stones across the water,
watched the clouds roll by,
and cried.

I drove out to the country,
to places we’d been together,
searching, always searching,
for my love.

I must come to terms
with the fact that she has left,
but I don’t know what I’ll do
without her—

If you ask me who she was,
I’ll say,
with a tear in my eye,
Her name was Muse.

Goodness Vi. You are going to have to find the girl and give her a really good time - make sure she feels loved and knows how grateful you are to have her stay. This is a start. She will know you have been searching but she may not trust you and may think you will get up to old tricks and ignore her again. :-) Mine now trusts that we are team act but it has not always been like this. Once I found her huddled in a cold cell looking very neglected.

This is so touching. I was caught by who is this missing one. Are you sure she didn't send a wee one who sat on your shoulder while you wrote this?

Oh Vi, this just blew me away. I can't get the tears out of my eyes no matter how much I blink them. And Oh!! the lump in my throat refuses to be swallowed back down, this is so pure and powerful it has stopped me in my tracks.

She can't be gone. Never forever, dig deep! She has to come back.

Thank you all for your comments. Don't worry, I'm not giving up. I'm setting up all kinds of goodies to entice her back, and I see that she's peeping through my window, just checking on what I'm
up to. :)
