Settling into Riversleigh Manor

Image Hosting by PictureTrail.com

Riversleigh Manor is a rambling old house with twenty five private quarters. This house was once the house of Lord and Lady someone or other and was later acquired by the Abbess and belongs to the Lemurian Abbey. Paths lead through the Grove Seed Grove to the Gypsy Camp, the Hermitage and the Lemurian Abbey.

Riversleigh Manor is the base home of those who have decided to come and find the Magic Faraway Tree, which is said to be within the Enchanted Golden Seed Grove. Everyone will find Enid Blyton's triology in their quarters and should spend a few days reading.

It feels like we have all arrived in the land of goodies because everyone is choosing idyllic apartments to live in during 2006. A year long project! I am just so excited that Heather is making my fantasy possible.

L'Enchanteur,

Do you have a room with a windowseat on the second floor? If there's a big tree outside, Tookie and Oreo can come and go as they please while I curl up and read (and write). Ah,that would be lovely.

Hey, Anitahh! Hope your friends aren't to noisy!

Got the perfect room for you Barbara. It is just to the right at the top of the stairs and there is an oak tree just outside so Tookie and Oreo will be able to come and go as they like. The balcony has a comfy chair on it and each room is self contained so we may never see you darling. I wouldn't worry about the noise from the basement darling. It is noises coming from the attic that may impact on you. Hopefully, whoever takes over the atttic will not play the drums or the Scottish pipes.

I`ll have the attic! I love attics! And I love this house - it reminds me of Toad Hall. I keep expecting to see Ratty and Mole round every corner.
I don't play the pipes but I do have a flute. Hopefully I won't disturb any one too much while I'm practising the old heel and toe.

Oh! I am so excited to be here. I am hoping to find a hidden room out of the way with a view of open space or a grove of trees. Hugs all around!

I arrived at the Manor with trepidation. This would be my first journey with this group and I only hoped I was up to the daunting task. So many with such talent. I trembled with delight as I entered the main hall, amazed at the spaciousness of the place. I could hear laughter coming already from the attic and basements. A smile came to my face and I started looking around for my room. I was so hoping to have a room off to the side in a little alcove perhaps, with a bay window where I could sit and view the countryside. I climbed up the creaking wooden stairs to look at a room on the second floor I had noticed from outside -- perhaps it was still vacant.

Cheers all, I'll have the room with the view of the elm tree and the old swing, from some distant memory. Second floor, dormer window with a little wrought iron lace balcony from where you can see the stars at night and hear the wind in the trees...the room is cosy and full of books, curios, with nightingales and mulberries on the wallpaper, among other things I have yet to discover...

The sound of excited voices is music to my ears. So Gail, you have the attic and Luna, your room is a bit out of the way. You have to go to the end of the corridor on the second floor. It looks like a dead end but if you turn right you will find a doorway that leads to your quarters. And they are magnificent. The view of the Grove is just splendid and in the distance you can see the spires of the Abbey.

And Rhonda! I know the room you mean. It is no longer vacant. It is yours now darling. Don't be daunted by any of us. It is all done with smoke and mirrors. Believe it or not everyone else just wandered in, just like you, drawn by Soul Food's big magnetic force field. Folk are talented but so are you. We all know that already. It takes a certain personality to find the place and gain entrance so just relax and enjoy yourself.

Now Leonie! The window of your room is custom made so that you can perch on your magic carpet on the bed and it will fit through the window without you toppling off. Idyllic really!

And Imogen, I will be up to fetch you and take you to the swing from your memory. Your room is a delight. It is just wonderful the way everyone gets just the room they always wanted.

Is there a room with a bay window with a tree, a sturdy oak perhaps, right outside? So close that I can step from my room into the branches whenever I want to. That would be a dream come true.

I heard there was an upstairs sleeping porch that had been converted into a solarium--I'd like that spot, if you please, as it is quite dreary here in Kansas and I need to feel the sun upon my face once again!

The more the merrier, Shiloh - I've noticed the attic has many other rooms. Mine is a cosy space under the eaves with a big old comfy sofa, and a pile of books, just like the March attic in Little Women - someone even left me a bowl of sweet russet apples.

... wipes crumbs from her mouth before she says, "And the tea and scones are magnificent!" Thank you so much for making our moving in so comfortable!

Welcome Carolyn. I am sure that when you go investigating you will find many rooms. Reminds me of the Princess and Curdie story where the Princess goes off investigating and there are passageways leading to trolls and so on.

Good to hear that you are so easily settled faucon. Sounds rather idyllic really. I will be located near you. I have taken over the old library and it is just magnificent. My desk looks out over the gardens and the walled garden is just nearby.

Dreams clearly come true Vi for there is a room with an oak outside the window. You will be able to clamber out on to the boughs and skip down to the Gypsy Camp with out any one even knowing you are gone.

And Gail is right Shiloh. The attic area is expansive enough to fit more than two guests. It is a bit like a rabbit warren up there and the view across Lemuria are to die for. You can see Duwamish and the Archipelago on a clear day.

Your porch sounds just perfect for a Kansas girl who needs to feel the warmth of the sun Karen.

There are folks still to arrive but their rooms are waiting for them. All tailor made.

Now has anyone seen Heather? Perhaps she has been making scones again. Sounds like you may have seen her Rhoz

I found my room or actually it found me. I was walking down a long narrow hallway and a door appeared in front of me I hesitated for a minute then walked thru it.
I knew the moment I saw it that it was my room.
It has a large window overlooking the forest. and a cozy recliner with a warm fuzzy blanket laying on it just waiting for me to curl up under it. On the walls are various pictures of dragons and unicorns,They are protecting the entrence way to a secret realm .One which you are only allowed to visit in your dreams.
Facing the window is my desk with lots of room for my crafts and writing materials. It is an old desk, with lots to hide. I will rest awhile and see if I can talk it into revealing some of its many secrets to me.
I wonder how I will find my room when I leave to explore the Manor.

just make sure to tie Ariadne's thread to the door and then you will find your way back to your room Carolyn. Good to hear that you have found such perfect quarters - or rather, that they found you. Maybe you should show us the 'door' that leads within

I'm still on my christmas holidays
please save me a room - I will be with you all as soon as I return home, early in the new year.

Your room is waiting for you Megan. I have been in and opened the windows to keep it fresh but it is here and you will know where to find it as soon as you arrive.

I would like you to save me if you can
a room on the ground floor with a big french door
and a bed with a feather comforter
and a bookshelf please so that I may
drop in or drop out from time to time
to read, or visit, or just to rhyme.
I'll have to confess, I may be the only
ex-womanchild who has never, ever
read a word of the writer whose name
appears in the brochure that brings me here: So I'll have to have Blyton
on the aforementioned shelf. In addition, my dear, I am bringing an elf,
a big boss donkey who likes himself
and
a bird who constantly asks a question
I've a few other details too many to mention
so let me know dear
if you've any intention
of putting me up
and I'll try to be good.

I have bags in hand and ready for a year at the Manor House. What a marvelous building. It must be filled with stories of its own.
I am one of the misfits who wanders around a lot on my own but I promise to share. Thank you for this great opportunity. I will put these bags here in the entry and explore a bit to find the perfect place for me. hope I do not get lost in all the halls. Cronejane

A donkey an elf and a bird who constantly asks questions. Show the bird the turkey in the freezer if you want it to quieten down Fran. As for not having read Blyton - what a treat you have in store. I have pulled my old copies off the shelves and they actually looked like they were smiling.

Welcome Jane. I know you are going to enjoy yourself darling. At least here you can wander. Indeed, there is so much to see you may only fall into your bed to sleep of a night.

I would like a room with a large window and a little terrace that I can step out on to, if that would be possible. I will join you as soon as I can

Is there room still here for a traveler? I am happy with the room where the junk is collected, because there I can find all kinds of things to entertain me. Because I will be coming and going, I don't need a definite, determined space- just a bed covered with a crazy quilt, a basket of yarn and some needles and a book or two (or more).

I am vacationing away from a busy home life, and while I enjoy it, I need the time and space at Riversleigh Manor to relax my mind and flex my soul.
